In the last three years, more people have been killed in Mexico’s drug war than all the US casulties in Iraq.

That’s over 9,900 people.

Most of the drugs that end up in the US come through Mexico and over the weekend 16 high school and university students were gunned down at a private house party.

Funeral services have been held all week.

Kaitlyn Sawrey spoke to Ken Ellingwood - author and correspondent for the LA times in Mexico City.

You can check out their comprehensive coverage of the drug war HERE.

Hack also spoke to David Shirk - the Director of the University of San Diego’s Trans-Border Institute. He tells his students that if they use drugs, they’re “putting money into the pockets of ruthless killers”.
